6/12 Roof Pitch

A roof that rises 6” within a length of 12” is considered as having a 6/12 pitch.

What is a 6/12 Roof Pitch?

When building a property, one of the main aspects to take into consideration is the pitch of the roof that will be needed. Roofing that has a steeper pitch will often be able to shed excess rainwater and snow a lot easier than a roof that has less of a pitch, for instance. Having a roof with a 6/12 pitch angle means that it’s equivalent to rising by 26.57 degrees.

Choose the Right Roofing Material

When building plans are being drawn up, this will be the right time to decide on the type of roofing material that must be used on a property. While a roof made from metal sheeting will often be the most affordable option, it may not always suit the rest of the aesthetics of the property in question.

Clay roof tiles are also a popular option, but these can sometimes be costly – and it’s also essential to check that trusses will be able to take the weight of them beforehand.

If your home needs a new roof or you’re building a brand new property, it’s crucial to hire roofers that are experienced, licensed, and insured. This will ensure that the job gets done properly.
